Media and Leadership Training

CHMP at Hunter College: Media & Leadership Training

In the new media landscape, there are countless opportunities to be quoted as an expert in your field. The professional benefits of engaging with the media are many, but how can you be sure that you make a great impression, give a useful soundbyte, and come across as a polished speaker? The Center for Health, Media and Policy’s acclaimed media training is built around one key skill: strategic messaging. When you learn to identify the core information you want to convey, and utilize basic techniques to ensure you get your points across, the possibilities for media exposure are endless.

Our experienced trainers have over 15 years of media training experience and over 25 years of broadcast experience. CHMP Co-Director, Barbara Glickstein, RN, MPH, MS, is the co-host and co-producer of NYC public radio’s award-winning HealthStyles, a weekly show. She has also been used as an expert in a huge variety of media coverage, from Entertainment Weekly to national public television.  As a media maker, Glickstein knows what works and trains clients to give interviews that really pop.  CHMP Director of Communications, Tristin Aaron, was co-lead trainer and media director for the premiere media training program in the U.S. for progressive women, the Women’s Media Center’s “Progressive Women’s Voices” program. She has prepped thought leaders for thousands of interviews in top television, radio, print and online interviews and has worked with the media as a publicist for over 15 years.

“When we arrived in NYC as CMPH guests to present our film, Bevel Up, Drugs, Users and Outreach Nursing, we were a bit apprehensive about the national television interview that the Center had arranged for us. But Barbara and Tristin were most encouraging and helped us focus on issues important to an American audience and how best to present these issues. It was a great experience. The media coaching they gave us will be helpful for any interviews we do in the future. The producers were happy with our performance and we are ready for more!” Fiona Gold, Street Nurse Program, BC Centre for Disease Control, Vancouver, Canada

CHMP customizes our training to fit your needs, whether you need one-time training and prep for an on-camera interview or a series of trainings to help your organization develop key messaging. We are experts in building skills on television interviews, radio interviews, print & online interviews, using social media and blogging, and can tailor our training to you.
